Fire Training

This weekend was a gloomy one. We got a lot of rain and thunderstorms here in North Idaho, and I heard the Twin Cities did too. I find it interesting when two places several hundred miles from each other are experiencing the same thing at the same time.
Well just because the weather kinda bummed out this weekend, didn't mean I wasn't doing stuff. I got involved with a public demonstration for the East Side Fire Dist. QRU, and helped to demonstrate strapping an injured person to a backboard, how to use a vacuum splint, and checked peoples blood pressure. It was set up to get the community interested in either becoming volunteers or giving money. Imagine a Fire Department booth at the MN state fair, and it was sort of the same thing. The more experienced fire fighters got to do demonstrations using huge hydraulic cutters and separators to pretty much destroy a car. I thought that part was awesome.
The rest of my weekend was spent watching episodes of Connections by James Burke on DVD, wasting time on facebook, and getting exercise in out home gym.

If you're interested in checking out the Perseid meteor shower, then your best bet of viewing one will be Tuesday night-Wednesday morning around 3 and 4 AM.

Which season of Connections are you watching now?

You need to finish the Cosmos series... I just got the last disk this week. I watched an episode last night that was about the possibility of life on other planets. It was excellent.

I started with Connections 1, because my parents had never seen it or heard of it, but they love it. I DO need to finish Cosmos.
